Children’s Privacy

Creating an Account

If a child below the age of 13 seeks to create an account or otherwise use our Services, we will email their parent. This email notifies the parent that their child wants to register or create an account, and it asks the parent to create an account to grant consent for their child to register. If the parent ignores or refuses to register the child, we will delete the child and parent’s contact information within 14 days of such notice. If the parent permits the registration, we will grant the child access to the features described in this Privacy Policy.

Parental Verification

To help verify that the parent is the person providing consent, MyAskA may ask for certain pieces of information to verify the parent’s identity, such as name or email address.

How We Use the Personal Information

Once we obtain parental consent, a child can use our Services much like any other user. And we may collect from the child the same types of Personal Information, and use and share that information for the same purposes, as described in the general policy.

Privacy Policy

We do not, nor do we allow third parties to, collect kids’ personal data (including persistent identifiers) for behavioral advertising, amassing a profile, or any purpose other than to support its internal operations unless we have obtained explicit prior parental consent. We may use aggregated or de-identified information about children for research, analysis, marketing and other commercial purposes.

Third Party Service Providers

We use a restricted version of Google Analytics to limit data sharing and tracking on areas of our site and mobile apps that are accessed by children.

Parents and legal guardians of children under 13 can consent to collection and use of a child’s personal information without consenting to the disclosure of that information to third parties. Parents or guardians can review information their children under 13 have contributed to us by accessing their child’s account or contacting us. Parents can also request that we delete that information and refuse to allow us to collect further information from their children by contacting us. We may ask additional questions or take other steps to verify the identity of a parent or guardian before responding to a request to review or delete a child’s information or a request to refuse further collection from a child.
